Weta report

In writing we have been learning about how to writ information reports here is my weta report.

Title: Weta 

Introduction: Wetas are members of the insect family and they are endemic to New Zealand. They are also the heaviest insect in New Zealand. 


Appearance: The weta has 6 legs and 3 body parts the head,thorax and abdomen.The weta legs are long and spiny.The female weta has a large stinger.                                                                        

      

Habitat: A cave weta can be found in sea coast caves and hollow tree trunks, under houses, tunnels and under stones. These are all the places where you can find wetas: Grassland,shrub land, forest and caves.


Life Cycles: Weta hatch from eggs and are born in springtime. As they grow they moult their exoskeleton at least 10 times. Weta take about 2 years to become a adult. Threats: People are threats to wetas because they destroy their habitats. Other introduced animals such as birds and bats also prey on them.


Conclusion: The weta is a special insect and the Department of Conservation (DOC) has many programmers to help with their Conservation.
